If it’s one thing that I know for certain in terms of wardrobe, it’s this: Classic pieces will take you places. They will never fail you and are almost always worthy of investment.
If you’ve been a longtime reader of mine, you know I absolutely adore classic basic pieces. They are the heart of my wardrobe and get so much wear. While I tend to save on trendier items, I always tend to splurge on the classics. They are the pieces that you will have and wear five to ten years down the road and still look at with a sparkle in your eye. They are the pieces that stand the test of time and are worth the extra money because if you face it from a cost per wear standpoint, you tend to break even/ save money over the years because they don’t need to be replaced. This jacket is one of those pieces. I’ve had this trench for well over a year and I still cannot get enough of it. It’s made amazingly well and I know (as long as I still fit in it) I will still adore it 10+ years from now. It’s an initial investment, however, given the timeframe that I envision myself wearing it, it’s completely worth the price tag. It pairs beautifully with everything and instantly brings up the look of the rest of your outfit. Honestly, the mere addition of it over a Forever 21 dress would make the whole outfit appear designer. It’s that luxe. That supple. That stunning.
That being said, next time you’re out debating whether or not to invest, ask yourself, how often will I wear this? If the answer is quite a bit over the next few years, think about investing a little more.
