Happy Thursday, All!

Hope your week has gone well so far!

Looking chic while at work can sometimes be a struggle in a sea of black suits & boring traditional work fashion.  If you haven’t figured it out by now, I tend to dress to the beat of my own little drum in terms of wardrobe at work.  I believe that traditional pieces are amazing.  However, they must be styled slightly differently in order to give your look some substance.  In order to do this, I often find myself picking classic shapes in interesting colors or patterns.  The classic shape keeps your look professional, but the colors, pairings, and patterns are what add interest to your look.  Here, I choose to compose an outfit of classic shapes:  a pencil skirt, a button up blouse, and pointed toe pumps.  Clearly, these are staples of any work wardrobe.  However, this outfit is unique from that of many of my colleagues because of the details; specifically, the lace & hot pink.  In order to make this ensemble work, the lace is done in a subdued color which keeps it from being overdone.  The chambray helps to give the dressy lace a more daytime vibe.  Finally, the pink pumps add some interest.  Since the pumps are the only color that is not a neutral, they pop but are still able to maintain a professional feel.  Hope this helps you get a little more inspired to liven up your work wardrobe!
